Mowa zależna (Reported Speech) – zasady tworzenia

jest relacjonowaniem wypowiedzi innych osób poprzez jej sparafrazowanie

Np. He said that he was waiting for her. Powiedział, że na nią czekał.

W języku angielskim przy tworzeniu mowy zależnej należy pamiętać o:
– konieczności opuszczenia znaków interpunkcyjnych wskazujących na obecność cytatu takich jak dwukropek i cudzysłów
– zmianie określeń dotyczących czasu:

– zmianie zaimków osobowych np. He said: „I lost my keys.” He said (that) he lost his keys. On powiedział: „Zgubiłem moje klucze.” On powiedział, że zgubił swoje/jego klucze.
– zmianie zaimków wskazujących: this -> that, these -> those, here -> there
– następstwie czasów, co oznacza, że czas zdania oryginalnej wypowiedzi, podczas przekształcania jej na mowę zależną, musi się zmienić na „jeden czas do tyłu”

He said (that) he had been going to the cinema all previous week.
Future in the Past
He said (that) he would go to the cinema the following Monday.
Future Continuous in the Past
He said (that) he would be going to the cinema the following Monday at 6 p.m.

UWAGA! Następstwa czasów nie stosuje się:
– w przypadku czasów zaprzeszłych (Past Perfect/Past Perfect Continuous)
– kiedy relacjonujemy aktualne opinie oraz stan który nie uległ zmianie (dotyczy to również niezmiennych praw i twierdzeń) np. Copernicus said: „The Earth goes round the Sun”. Copernicus said (that) the Earth goes round the Sun.
– kiedy czasownik wprowadzający mowę zależną występują w czasie Present Simple np. She says „My child is sick.” She says (that) her child is sick.
– w 0, II i III okresie warunkowym

Pytania w mowie zależnej

Pytania ogólne w mowie zależnej poprzedzone są spójnikiem „if” lub „whether” i mają szyk zdania oznajmującego np. She asked: „What is he doing?’ She asked him what he was doing.
Pytania szczegółowe w mowie zależnej rozpoczynają się od zaimków pytających i mają szyk zdania oznajmującego np. He asked me: „What is his name?” He asked me what his name was.

Zdania rozkazujące w mowie zależnej

W zdaniach rozkazujących w mowie zależnej nie stosuje się wymiany czasów. Ma tutaj zastosowanie konstrukcja bezokolicznika, za pomocą czasowników: – tell sb to do sth – powiedzieć coś komuś – ask sb to do sth – poprosić kogoś o coś – order sb to do sth – rozkazać/nakazać komuś coś zrobić – beg sb to do sth – błagać prosić kogoś o coś
np. She said: „Help me!” She asked me to help her. Powiedziała: „Pomoż mi!” Poprosiła mnie, żebym jej pomógł.

Czasowniki modalne w mowie zależnej

Część czasowników modalnych ulega zmianie w zdaniach w mowie zależnej, natomiast część pozostaje bez zmian:
